Learn about the importance of unions in the film industry, how they can help you take the next step in your career!

Welcome to How To Work With Unions On A Short Film! On September 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Concordia University of Edmonton, we'll dive into the ins and outs of collaborating with unions in the film industry. Whether you're a seasoned filmmaker or just starting out, this session will provide valuable insights and tips. Joining us will be representatives from International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), the biggest union which represents many different deparments in film, from art departments, lighting, sound, etc.; The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television, and Radio Artists (ACTRA) representing over 30,000 professional performers in Canada; and the Director's Guild of Canada (DGC) representing directors, assistant directors, location managers, and more. Join us for a discussion about how to use these organizations with your short film, and how these organizations can help individuals elevate their career.
