Monica Miller Memorial Lecture featuring Alissa York

Alissa York's internationally acclaimed novels include Effigy (shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize), Fauna, The Naturalist (winner of the Canadian Authors Association Award for Fiction), and, most recently, Far Cry. Stories from Alissa's short fiction collection, Any Given Power, have won the Journey Prize and the Bronwen Wallace Award. Her essays and articles have appeared in The Guardian, The Globe and Mail, Brick magazine and elsewhere. In 2018, Alissa won the Writers' Trust Engel Findley Award for a Writer in Mid-Career. She lives in Stratford, Ontario and teaches at the Humber School for Writers.

CKUA listeners around the world know Monica Miller was passionate about music. However, she was just as passionate about literature, particularly works by female authors. The annual Monica Miller Memorial Lecture features a prominent female writer, with the aim of amplifying women's voices in literature.

Following her lecture, Alissa will be interviewed on stage by host Marina Endicott.

A reception and book signing will take place in the atrium after the lecture.
