Paper Seeds Community Poetry Event
Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026
3:00pm to 5:45pm
19
An event intended to nurture your creative voice and give back to community.
Join us in the garden for an afternoon of growing your creative voice through poetry.
Together, we'll explore nuance through guided writing prompts and time spent wandering the garden. You'll create a poem on Canadian wildflower seed paper as a symbol that your art has the power to give back to the places we live and the people we love.
Participants will be invited to read their poems aloud. Each poem will then be photographed before being planted in the community. This symbolic act represents the idea that when we nurture our creativity, it has the power to enrich the places we live and the communities we share. It also serves as an invitation to continue tending your own creative practice long after the event has ended.
Participation is limited to 12 attendees to help create an intimate and supportive experience.
Prior to the event, participants will be asked to complete a brief (approximately 5-minute) questionnaire and provide their contact information. The poems created during the gathering may contribute to a future collective artwork. Should that project generate any profit, contributors will be fairly compensated for the use of their work.
A donation is requested with 100% of profits being donated to Sustainable Food Edmonton and community arts initiatives.
Looking forward to creating, sharing, and planting something meaningful together.
