Reading the Air is a lyrical reimagining of one young man’s runaway journey across the early 20th-century American West, as a granddaughter brings her grandfather’s long-buried story vividly to life in verse.

Brenda Gunn returned to creative writing when she retired in 2017 after more than thirty years as an elementary teacher in Edmonton. Her first collection, Florilegia, twice charted number one on Audreys Books Edmonton poetry bestseller list after its release in the Fall of 2024. Brenda has been shortlisted for and has won multiple awards and accolades for her poetry. Brenda reads with the Edmonton Stroll of Poets and Parkland Poets of Stony Plain. She is a member of The Writers’ Union of Canada, the League of Canadian Poets, the Alberta and Saskatchewan Writers’ Guilds, and The Ontario Poetry Society.
