Join us for a fascinating evening on the RVA trail in Devon as we explore the incredible world of mushrooms with Alberta’s own Martin Osis. This educational walk will uncover the rich fungal biodiversity of the region and highlight mushrooms historically used by both Indigenous communities and settlers.

About the Experience

This isn’t just a walk — it’s an immersive journey into the science, stories, and significance of fungi. You’ll learn how mushrooms have been used for food, medicine, and more, all while enjoying a guided trek through one of our beautiful river valley trails.

Meet Your Guide: Martin Osis

Martin Osis is a beloved educator and amateur mycologist who has spent decades captivating audiences with his passion for wild mushrooms. A founding member of the Alberta Mycological Society, Martin brings unmatched enthusiasm and knowledge to every walk, workshop, and talk he leads.

He’s played a pivotal role in organizing events like the Great Alberta Mushroom Foray and helped establish the Medicinal Mushroom Committee at the North American Mycological Association. Martin also serves on the advisory board of My Fungi, an Alberta-based mushroom company, and continues to explore new research and habitat diversity across the province.

Whether you’re a long-time forager or just starting your mushroom journey, Martin’s approach makes mycology accessible, engaging, and fun.
