After building new solar energy farms, we often want to restore biodiversity and ecosystem function on-site, including native plant and pollinator biodiversity.
After building new solar energy farms, we often want to restore biodiversity and ecosystem function on site, including native plant and pollinator biodiversity. What is the best way to do this? How important are native plants for supporting native pollinator biodiversity? What native plant species do pollinators prefer? You’ll come away from this talk with new things to think about as you watch who is visiting the flowers in your own garden!
Dr. Carol Frost is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Alberta. She studies how we can conserve insect biodiversity, and all the ecosystem services that insects provide. With Dr. Cameron Carlyle, she is leading the Future Energy Systems project, Revegetation at green energy sites for pollinator biodiversity and multiple ecosystem goods and services.
