In recognition of Kidney Health Month, join Dr. Bill Fissell, professor and director in the Division of Nephrology for an accessible discussion about kidney health and the important role your kidneys play in keeping you healthy.
Your kidneys work around the clock to filter waste, regulate fluids, help control blood pressure, and support many of the body's essential functions. Yet many people know very little about their kidneys or how to protect them. Because kidney disease often develops without obvious symptoms, understanding kidney health is an important part of staying well.
This session will explore what your kidneys do, common factors that can affect kidney health, and why regular health monitoring, including blood pressure checks, can help identify potential concerns early. Participants will learn about the connection between kidney health and blood pressure, common signs and symptoms to be aware of, and practical steps that can help support long-term kidney health.
Designed for a general adult audience, this session will provide clear, evidence-informed information to help participants better understand their kidneys, protect their health, and know when to seek medical advice. Questions are encouraged, and participants will have an opportunity to engage with the speaker during the Q&A portion of the session.
