Part of: Historic Festival and Doors Open Edmonton

Take yourself on a self-guided tour of the building during any of the library’s regular opening hours by picking up a guide at the Customer Service desk.
The Edmonton Public Library’s Strathcona Branch is the oldest purpose-built library that remains in our city. Opened in 1913, the grand brick building has faced its own demise more than once in its 113 years. But it still stands and welcomes all Edmontonians through its doors to access all the library has to offer, including a fascinating history. Come learn about the mystery of the missing statue, why there are no books stored on the second floor and gain an appreciation for how the building has been made to adapt to keep up in our digital world.
