For a limited time, experience Physics for Poets, a bold feature-length docudrama that explores Galileo’s historic confrontation with authority and examines its powerful relevance in today’s rapidly evolving technological world.
Physics for Poets, by Edmonton filmmaker Gina Payzant and featuring original music composed by Darrin Hagen, blends historical drama with magical realism. The story unfolds over one pivotal night in 1633, when Galileo prepares to travel from Florence to Rome to face the Inquisitional Council after the Catholic Church denounces his discoveries about Heaven and Earth as heresy.
Ghostly visits from Johannes Kepler through the night echo across time, connecting 17th-century scientific discovery with the upheaval of today’s technological age. The more technology we have, the more philosophy we need.
