The ERZ Trio is an emerging piano trio formed at MacEwan University, rooted in a deep exploration of the piano trio tradition. Drawing inspiration from the sound worlds of Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, and Robert Glasper, the group blends classic trio interplay with a modern sense of groove, space, texture, and lyricism.

What began as a focused study of rhythm section artistry—through transcription, listening, and close collaboration—has evolved into a distinct musical voice shaped by shared curiosity and strong artistic chemistry. Their performances highlight interactive playing, dynamic range, and an emphasis on feel and communication, offering audiences a fresh yet
respectful take on the piano trio format.
