Jane's Walk led by Emily Horrill of the Edmonton City as Museum Project (ECAMP)
Description: Discover working-class stories of Edmontonians who’ve built our city through this downtown walking tour. You’ll learn about Indigenous labour and the pemmican industry, women workers at the Great Western Garment factory, immigrant contributions to city infrastructure, and key strikes and protests, including the amusing 1947 Chocolate Bar Strike. You’ll also get a taste of modern pemmican, see where Edmontonians have worked throughout the river valley, and get to make your own protest signs!
This tour is presented by the Edmonton City as Museum Project (ECAMP), an initiative of the Edmonton Heritage Council. It's a pilot for a regualr tour we'll be offering this summer! You'll be able to catch it every week from June through September.
Location: Meet at the main entrance of the Royal Alberta Museum (9810 103a Ave NW)
Accessibility: Start & finish are accessible by Bus, LRT and Bike. Paid parking is available. Route is all via City Sidewalks. Questions or accessibility requests? Give us a shout at ecamp@edmontonheritage.ca.
