Raised in rural Saskatchewan, Kris Burwash had a different relationship to music and sound. The quiet of prairie nights, the clamour of farm machinery, the blasting of 80s metal tapes cruising down back roads. In 2001, he opened Listen Records in Edmonton, a hub of experimental music in Western Canada. In 2007 he started vinyl-only label Uzu Audio. In 2016 he dove into the modular synth world, making hazy ambient music that recalls dreams of memories from another life, hypnotic meditations. He has since released 3 full length albums, two double cassette audio sketchbooks, a collaboration EP with viola player Nadir Bellahmer, a split EP of recordings made in Japan with Ian Rowley, and a triple cassette homage to new age meditation tapes.
