WATCH THE TRAILER

This documentary tells the story of the Dene Tha's connection to Mbehcho (Bistcho Lake) along with their leadership and ongoing work to conserve and protect the area.

Nestled in Alberta's boreal forest, Mbehcho is the third largest lake in Alberta, located in the northwest corner of the province. The region is home to iconic boreal species such as caribou and wolverine, and is an ancestral place to which the Dene Tha' people are deeply connected.

Through this film, community members share their vision for the long-term stewardship of the Mbehcho region - one that safeguards cultural sites and practices, protects critical caribou habitat, and conserves areas of high biodiversity and soil carbon. This screening offers a meaningful opportunity to learn about Indigenous-led conservation and the enduring relationship between people, land, and water.

The documentary was produced by River Voices Production.
