OPENING NIGHT! Broad View is pleased to present 2 films: Agatha's Almanac and I Don't Dare Touch

Agatha's Almanac directed by Amalie Atkins.

90-year-old Agatha forges a solitary existence on her ancestral farm, preserving heirloom seeds in her handmade universe. Practical and esoteric, her actions predate modern conveniences. Without a drivers license, cell phone, running water, or even a functioning landline Agatha’s daily rituals form a vivid counterpoint to modern life.

Trailer

I Don't Dare Touch directed by Dana Rayment.

"Coming back to dance with my hands, the first morning light and found footage in the background. A story of light and a return to the joy of dance.: Dana Rayment

Presented in memory of the late, great Dana Rayment of Edmonton.

ABOUT THE DIRECTORS

Amalie Atkins/Agatha's Almanac

Amalie Atkins (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Renowned for her films and video installations, Atkins creates cinematic fables by blending 16 mm film, performance, textiles, installations, and analogue photography. Her practice merges traditional elements with a hands-on, do-it-yourself aesthetic to imprint a fictional world onto everyday life.

Dana Rayment/I Don't Dare Touch

Dana Rayment was a multi-disciplinary artist, fearless in a dizzying array of media—dance, theatre, film, photography, glass fusing, jewelry making, ‘pysanka’, encaustic, painting, gardening—a creativity that also informed her work as a Pilates instructor and as a Spiritual Caregiver at NAIT and MacEwan University. Her passion for the arts, moreover, overflowed into many communities, evident in a generosity of volunteering, for example, on the boards of AMAAS (Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society), FAVA (Film and Visual Arts Society of Alberta), and the Alberta Dance Alliance (ADA), to name a few.
