Join us as we celebrate Black History Month with children, preteens, and teens (ages 7–17) from Edmonton's African/Black descent community
A youth‑centred event in celebration of Black History Month. This program brings together Chess & STEM education with cultural celebration to engage kids, preteens, and teens (ages 7–17) from Edmonton's African‑descent communities.
What to ExpectA. Chess Tournament
- Only 12 spots available — pre‑registration required
- Format: 3 rounds, Swiss‑style pairing with clock
- Only 8 spots available — pre‑registration required
- Activities: Beginner coding challenges & algorithm puzzles
- History of Black communities in Alberta
- Tribute to historical Black inventors and innovators
