Audreys Genre Book Club is a free monthly social reading group. Genre-specific books are selected by our booksellers to inspire reflection and discussion. Expect a range of themes, ideas and styles, and a warm atmosphere in which to enjoy relaxed conversation.

Hafsa's choice for February is 'The Lost City of Z' by David Grann. With a meticulously researched narrative that weaves together historical depth, the thrill of exploration, and the dangers of the Amazon, this book is sure to capture both the mind and the imagination. David Grann retraces the real-life journey (and mysterious disappearance) of British explorer Percy Fawcett as he searches for a legendary ancient city deep in the Amazon. Along the way, readers are invited to consider themes of obsession, the allure of the unknown, colonialism, and the clash between Western and Indigenous cultures. We're eager to dive into both the story itself and the bigger ideas behind it.
