Join author Trina Moyles for an engaging evening celebrating her new book, Black Bear: A Story of Siblinghood and Survival. In this heartfelt conversation, Moyles explores themes of family, resilience, and the enduring bonds between siblings. She will be joined by Conor Kerr, author of Prairie Edge, who will guide the discussion, drawing out the stories and insights behind the book. Readers, writers, and book lovers alike won’t want to miss this lively and thoughtful author talk.
Trina Moyles
Trina Moyles is an award-winning Yukon-based writer, journalist, and photographer whose work explores life in rural communities and our evolving relationships with land, wildlife, and climate. She is the author of Lookout: Love, Solitude, and Searching for Wildfire in the Boreal Forest and Women Who Dig: Farming, Feminism, and the Fight to Feed the World. In 2022, she was recognized with the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artist Award.
Conor Kerr
Conor Kerr is an award-winning Métis/Ukrainian writer and bird hunter based in amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton). Born in Saskatoon and raised in Buffalo Pound Lake and Drayton Valley, his work is shaped by place, history, and relationships to land. His book Prairie Edge was shortlisted for the 2024 Giller Prize and the 2024 Writer’s Trust Atwood Gibson Fiction Award and won the 2024 Crime Writers of Canada best novel award. His most recent book, Beaver Hills Forever, was released in September.
