In 2021, representatives from 16 LGBTQ+ History Months around the world established the International Committee on LGBTQ+ History Months.
The committee consists of scholars, teachers, professors, writers, historians, and community activists who believe that history matters and that access to one’s history is a human right. They also believe that LGBTQ+ history education is necessary. As of October 2025, the committee consists of 37 representatives from 25 locations worldwide.
Representatives Alessio Ponzio and Miriam Benslimane from Canada, Sue Sanders from the UK, Rául Pérez Monzón from Cuba, and Claire O’Leary from Aotearoa-New Zealand will discuss the importance of learning about and celebrating queer history in today’s world. The panel will also include Ben Garcia, director of the American LGBTQ+ Museum in New York City, and Rodney Wilson, founder of Queer History Month USA in 1994.
