Andrew Noakes (He/Him) is a musician and educator currently residing in Treaty 6 Territory, colonially known as Edmonton. As a guitar playing trombonist and bandleader of Dwell, Andrew looks to music as a way to connect to folks and build relationships—both with sound and instruments. For him, music tenderly holds history and experiences while also providing a playground to try out new worlds.

Andrew's current band Dwell blends jazz ensemble with big band, r&b beats, and indie soundscapes. Dwell is a multi-instrumental ensemble that plays all original music composed by Andrew—the influences of this music range from Kenny Wheeler's jazz arranging; to Grizzly Bear's guitar lead indie-rock; to Canadian post-rock band Do Make Say Think; to the lyrical Joni Mitchell. The music features trombone and alto saxophone melodies and improvisations with underlying indie-rock jazz grooves and Holly Sangster doubling on vocals. The introspective lyrics are written by Andrew and describe emotions around managing a move to a new city, finding a chosen family, or cozying up with your
innermost truths.
