This webinar invites you to critically explore what accessibility means in the context of AgeTech. It introduces the Accessible Canada Act and examines the digital divide, highlighting the complex and intersecting barriers that contribute to digital exclusion.

You will have the opportunity to explore practical strategies for embedding practices that support accessibility into research and development, including insights from digital literacy programs and accessibility models. Finally, this webinar will invite you to think about accessibility beyond technical aspects and consider the importance of lived experience in assessing accessibility.

In this session, you will learn how to:

  • Assess how accessibility barriers affect older adults’ ability to engage with AgeTech
  • Apply practical strategies to improve accessibility in AgeTech including the use of digital literacy supports and models such as the Access Rainbow to address real-world challenges
  • Critically examine the meaning of accessibility beyond technical design, drawing on lived experiences, ethical considerations, and relational dynamics
  • Identify opportunities to apply strategies for enhancing accessibility to your current or future AgeTech initiative
