Walk, Float, and Discover: A Journey Through Edmonton’s Historic and Sacred River Valley
Step into a powerful story woven through land, water, and time. This unique experience—created in partnership between Talking Rock Tours and RiverWatch EcoFloats—invites you to walk and float your way through Edmonton’s sacred River Valley. The journey begins on land with a guided Talking Rock tour led by an Indigenous Guide. As you walk to sacred and historic sites within North America’s largest urban green space, you’ll hear stories that span over 10,000 years—from the footsteps of the First Peoples to the fur trade era—brought to life through ceremony, connection, and cultural insight.
Immediately after, the journey continues on water with a guided 1.5 hr EcoFloat down the North Saskatchewan River. Along the Walterdale Bridge to Dawson Park route, RiverWatch River Guides add layers of ecological, historical, and cultural storytelling that complement and deepen what you’ve learned on land. Floating beneath Edmonton’s iconic bridges, you'll gain a whole new perspective of the river that has shaped life in this region for millennia.
Together, the walk and float offer a rare opportunity to connect with the land and water through both scientific and Indigenous ways of knowing—an unforgettable experience of learning, reflection, and reconnection.
