Join us on May 22nd at noon MT for an insightful session on the green building initiatives of the Alberta Native Friendship Centres Association (ANFCA). Leon Cardinal from ANFCA will share inspiring stories of sustainable building development, highlighting projects that incorporate solar energy and future ambitions for renewable solutions.

Leon Cardinal – ANFCA
Leon is a Member of the Fishing Lake Metis Settlement in Treaty 6 Territory and has been working for ANFCA since 2024 as the Green Initiatives Coordinator. He is a carpenter by trade and worked many years in emergency services as well. Completing the 2020 Catalyst Program through Indigenous Clean Energy (ICE) in 2019, helping to develop the Bringing it Home Initiative through ICE and completing the Captains course with Edmonton City Fire and bringing Solar Power to his Settlement are a couple key highlights to his career. He is passionate about the environment, sustainable living, woodworking, gardening and classic cars and trucks. His responsibility at ANFCA is to build sustainable Friendship Centres and practices that have a positive impact on the environment.
