The theme of this special Earth Day Tellaround is Reflections of my Family's Relationship with the Land.
It will be led by Indigenous Storyteller Cheryle Greyeyes from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Treaty 6, Saskatchewan. Open to everyone with ears to hear and a story to tell. First-timers, experienced tellers and listeners are welcome! Participants are encouraged to bring personal stories, stories from a relative, or family member to share with the group. Bannock and saskatoon jam will be available at the break.
Cheryle is a proud member of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Treaty 6, Saskatchewan. Cheryle has been the Administrative Coordinator at the UCalgary Native Centre since 2005, and along with her daughter Chantal Chagnon she has been singing, drumming and sharing their Cree/Métis culture since 2008. Cheryle has worked with CBC English Radio and Television, the National Film Board of Canada, National Aboriginal Health Organization, Awo Taan Native Women's Shelter, and the City of Calgary. She has an Advertising and Public Relations Diploma from Grant MacEwan College as well as a BA in Communications and Canadian Studies from the University of Calgary.
