St. Albert loves Canada Reads! The Friday before the Canada Reads debates on CBC radio and TV, we hold our own Canada Reads debate at the Downtown Library with local celebrities championing one of the Canada Reads books.
This year we have 5 amazing panelists, each defending a book on the Canada Reads shortlist. We have:
- Author and former Writer in Residence Katie Bickell defending Etta and Otto and Russell and James
- Violence prevention educator Tuval Nafshi defending Dandelion
- Run for Reconciliation Founder Amanda Patrick defending Jenny's Boy
- St. Albert MLA Marie Renaud defending Watch Out for Her
- Youth Advocate James Rossman defending A Two-Spirit Journey
Our amazing host, Michelle Steinhusen returns. Be part of a fun, stimulating evening, and help us decide what Canada’s Next Great Read will be!
