Ocêpihkowan: It Has Roots is a multidisciplinary show featuring interactive storytelling through Powwow dance, song, poetry and film.

Drawing from her personal experience navigating chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety and depression, this event will offer insight into the life-affirming cultural practices and teachings that pulled Sissy out of her darkest moments. Utilizing practises of love, balance and mindfulness taught to her by Community Builder and Teacher Michelle Nieviadomy, who will be joining her on stage, both Michelle and Sissy will also explore how art can elevate us beyond our pain and show us we are more than our trauma.

The themes explored in this project include: suicide and mental illness awareness, cultural connection, healthy expression, catharsis, and how art can transform our pain.
