The Coldest Night of the Year is a winterrific family-friendly fundraising walk in support of local charities. Let's change the tune for people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness... because it's cold out there.

People from across Edmonton are invited to start a team, raise funds, and join Bissell Centre for the Coldest Night of the Year walkathon through downtown Edmonton on February 22, 2025, starting at Boyle Street Plaza (9538 103A Ave.) with registrations and opening events starting at 4:00 p.m. and the walk itself beginning at 5:00 p.m. This year, Bissell Centre hopes to raise $150,000 to help support critical programs and services aimed at helping individuals and families uncover their unique paths out of poverty.

Last year's event saw more than 500 walkers on 50 teams raise $186,000 towards Bissell Centre's mission to remove barriers and support people as they move out of poverty. The team at Bissell Centre is hoping to see an even bigger impact made on the community it serves — encouraging even more people to start a team, raise funds, and walk in solidarity with individuals and families experiencing poverty and homelessness.

"This is our largest fundraising event of the year," says Michelle Reid, Manager of Community Engagement with Bissell Centre. "The kind of support we see from Edmontonians participating in this event is awe-inspiring and absolutely crucial to meet our vision to eliminate poverty in our community."
