Pioneer Churches on the Prairies is an ongoing project to photograph and document the histories of churches established by early settlers in northeastern Alberta.
In his presentation, Russell Sawchuk will take you on a multimedia tour of the two websites he created for this project – Pioneer Churches and Musica Ukraina. He will explain why and how he intends to capture, preserve and share high-quality images and the histories of these parishes for future generations.
Come and enjoy the creativity and passion of a project that explores new ways of photographing and displaying these beautiful pioneer churches. Come to contribute, relive and share your memories and experiences of these churches.
The topics that will be discussed include: how we take photographs of churches; how and why we created the websites; how we collect and document the histories; how and why we make the videos and canvas prints. We will also discuss how we are going about finding future homes for these photographs and histories.
If you are interested in learning more about designing and setting up virtual galleries or museums, or about the methods and technologies used in this project, this session is for you!
