Join Daryl Cloran, Artistic Director of Citadel Theatre as he delves into the enchanting world of A Christmas Carol. This year marks the Citadel's 25th anniversary of the beloved production and the 6th year of David van Belle's beautifully crafted adaptation.
Daryl will share insights into the creative process and inspiration behind this holiday tradition that brings together 33 talented Edmonton-based performers (adults and children!), along with the contributions of hundreds of artists, designers, craftspeople, technicians, stage managers and staff. Discover the rich history of A Christmas Carol, how it has evolved over the years, and its significance in the community as a cherished holiday celebration. Don't miss this opportunity to explore the magic behind one of Edmonton's favorite theatrical experiences!
This session is part of Learn Downtown, a City of Learners speaker series offering bite-size learning opportunities downtown. A complimentary lunch will be provided in support by The Downtown Vibrancy Strategy.
Daryl has been the Artistic Director of the Citadel Theatre since 2016. He has built an international reputation for the Citadel with three Citadel-associated shows carrying on to Broadway: Hadestown, SIX: The Musical and Peter Pan Goes Wrong. He has directed many shows at the Citadel including; A Streetcar Named Desire, The Three Musketeers, Christmas Carol, Jane Eyre, The Fiancée, Network, Shakespeare in Love, Almost A Full Moon, and Matilda. Daryl’s adaptation of As You Like It has played at Chicago Shakespeare, Milwaukee Rep, Shakespeare Theater Company (Washington, DC), Theatre Calgary, Citadel, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and twice at Bard on the Beach (Vancouver). Upcoming: Daryl is directing Sense & Sensibility at the Stratford Festival.
