Food Inflation with Professor Shahidul Islam
Friday, Dec. 13, 2024
7:00pm to 8:00pm
13
Join Dr. Shahidul Islam, Professor of Economics at MacEwan University, to discuss Canada's food inflation and how it affects people, especially low-income families, and vulnerable populations.
Inflation is a regular phenomenon, and predictable inflation is not necessarily bad for society. However, unpredictable or unusual inflation can cause serious harm to society by restricting the availability of sufficient and appropriate combinations of nutritious food to vulnerable populations, including young children and low-income families. In this presentation, Dr. Shahidul Islam will share his ideas on what inflation is, how it affects society, why food inflation is so critical, and what we can do about it.
This is an online event through Zoom. This session will not be recorded.
