Dig in, unwind, and have fun through connection and creativity.
The Art Buffet is the Mitchell Art Gallery’s own “art hive”, a concept developed over two decades of research by Dr. Janis Timm-Bottos rooted in ideas of art therapy and inclusivity. We invite you to join us and explore your creativity in a welcoming space for all that encourages mental-wellness. The Art Buffet is free, materials are provided, and no prior art experience is necessary. Share in dialogue, art-making, and skill-sharing between people of different backgrounds, ages, cultures, and abilities. A buffet of art materials awaits!
Art Buffet takes place every Wednesday, 12 – 4 p.m., from September 25 to December 4, in the Allard Hall atrium right outside the Mitchell Art Gallery.
Note: this program explores the idea of “art as therapy” as a means to relax and increase wellbeing through creative expression. Art Buffet is not formal art therapy or a replacement for professional medical assistance or consultation.
Art Buffet was developed for the MAG in 2023 by Krissya Iraheta. Art Buffet’s brand new look was designed by Forrester Towes, a 3rd year Bachelor of Design student.
