Member Social and Presentation from Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc.

Speaker: Gordon Giles, Director, Corporate Development, Al-Pac

Topic: NO LONGER YOUR PARENT'S PULP MILL

Alberta Pacific Forest Industries (Al-Pac) owns and operates the newest and largest single line kraft pulp mill in North America, and is recognized as a leader in innovation. Al-Pac’s activities are focused on investigating bio-industrial opportunities to leverage their fibre availability into products ranging from bio-energy to bio-chemical and beyond. Despite this, they face the same challenges every pulp mill operator faces – the need to reduce costs, improve safety, diversify revenue. This presentation will look at the process they take in these investigations and share some of the challenges facing bio-industrial project development in the real world.
