The 2024 Eric J. Hanson Lecture is hosted by the Institute for Public Economics (IPE) and the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta. This year's speaker is Anil Arora, Chief Statistician of Canada (2016 - 2024).
Mr. Arora will share a few personal stories from his years of working as a statistician, provide a portrait of the current socioeconomic landscape of Canada, and highlight some of the major challenges and opportunities facing the national statistical system.
This stimulating lecture using Statistics Canada’s data and insights will put in perspective the current key issues faced by policy makers, businesses, academics and researchers.
