The Edmonton Heyoka Healing Society (EHHS) is an Indigenous-led non-profit with a long history of supporting the Indigenous community of Edmonton, AB, and area through culturally appropriate programs and services. The direct support EHHS provides, including food hampers, social work support, trauma-based counseling, Elder support, and ceremony, supports the local Indigenous community, addressing the disadvantaged social determinants of health that result from the ongoing impact of colonialism. As a collective of Indigenous healing professionals and cultural mentors, we have developed and facilitated numerous services, programs, and community-focused events in support of family and survivors of the MMIWG2S+ crisis while addressing the systemic barriers faced by Indigenous community members.
