Genius in Motion
Alberta Ballet honours one of history’s greatest composers with Beethoven 200, a powerful new creation by Artistic Director Francesco Ventriglia commemorating 200 years since Ludwig van Beethoven’s death. This world premiere celebrates the enduring influence of his music and the profound emotional landscape that has captivated audiences for generations.
Created especially for Alberta Ballet, the production features a unique collaboration with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Their rich, dynamic sound provides a powerful musical backdrop, bringing Beethoven’s sweeping melodies and dramatic intensity vividly to life on stage.
Through striking choreography and expressive movement, Ventriglia explores the power, drama, and humanity within Beethoven’s music. Blending live orchestral performance with bold contemporary dance, Beethoven 200 invites audiences to experience the genius of Beethoven through a dance language that transcends time.
