Nondrivers are people with disabilities, young people, seniors and people who can't afford cars or gas. The Week Without Driving, now an international awareness and advocacy campaign, was created so that those who have the option to drive can learn firsthand about the barriers and challenges that nondrivers face. Together, we can create communities that include all of us.

Whether you're a community member, a community lead, work for a public agency, an elected official, a national organization, or you're a business, there are lots of ways to join the movement!
  • Instead of driving yourself, try to figure out another way to get where you need to go for all of or some trips (e.g., bus, LRT, walk/roll, bike, rollerblade, e-scooter, etc.). Reflect on the barriers or safety concerns you are experiencing.
  • You can ask or pay for rides from other people (e.g., friends, family, taxi). Reflect on how it feels to rely on others and if it changes what trips you take.
  • There may be trips where you decide to drive yourself (this campaign is about reflection, not perfection!). Reflect on what someone who could not drive would have done in your situation.
