Join us to celebrate the launch of the 2nd edition of Indigenous Writes. Editor Cheleas Vowel will be in conversation with Dr. Crystal Gail Fraser.
The 2nd edition features expanded and updated discussions about Métis and Inuk identity, Bill C-31, cultural appropriation, identity fraud and pretendianism, Two-Spirit identity, the Indian Act, and drinking water on reserves, as well as reflections on the current state of Truth and Reconciliation and what has changed—or not—since the first publication.
Chelsea Vowel is a Métis nêhiyawêwin (Cree) language instructor from manitow-sâkahikan (Lac Ste. Anne) Alberta, living in amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton) whose work intersects language, gender, and Métis self-determination.
Dr. Crystal Gail Fraser is Gwichyà Gwich’in, originally from Inuvik and Dachan Choo Gèhnjik (Tree River) in the NWT. She is an Historian, Indigenous Studies Scholar, Author and Advocate.
