Beppie (Stephanie Nhan) is a two-time JUNO-nominated children’s musician and educator from Edmonton, Alberta. Her vibrant, high-energy shows and award-winning songs take kids and families on an eclectic musical adventure filled with fun, humor, and heart. Beppie is a Western Canadian Music Award winner and International Songwriting Competition finalist who inspires creativity and connection through her playful, genre-bending approach to children’s music.
EPL's Writer in Residence 2026, Alexis Marie Chute, opens a new window is a creative powerhouse—a bestselling author and award-winning artist, filmmaker, photographer, curator and publisher—whose work spans two decades. Her abstract paintings, portraits, photography, films, and literary works have been showcased globally, and her artwork is represented by the Art Gallery of Alberta. Her debut memoir Expecting Sunshine (2017) was adapted into an acclaimed documentary film, followed by her Amazon-bestselling YA fantasy trilogy, including Above the Star (2018), Below the Moon (2019), and Inside the Sun (2020). Her recent nonfiction books—Prairie Spirits (2021), The Eternal Summer of Alberta’s Herbarium (2022), Memorable Murals (2023), Moments in Focus (2024), and Project Sketchbook Volume 1 (2025)—celebrate Alberta’s rich culture and landscape. She is also a passionate public speaker and educator.
Sarah Hudson is the Edmonton-based artist and writer behind the Owl Adventures series. Owl Adventures is a book and illustration series for all ages about the many adventures of an Owl (named Owl) and his best friend Penguin. Sarah has a Bachelor of Media Arts from Emily Carr University in Vancouver, and she comes from an independent film and visual storytelling background. She grew up in Northern BC, where she was inspired by the quirky lives of real birds in the wild. She is also influenced by pop culture, art history, and light-hearted satire.
Owl Adventures started with illustrations inspired by the real life adventures of a travelling stuffed owl. The first book, Owl's Everyday Adventures, came out in 2019. There are currently ten books in the series so far with many more on the way in the future!
Sarah will also be showcasing her art as a part of Capital City Art this evening!
