From Forts to floods, learn how the Rossdale neighbourhood changed through the lives of two kids who grew up there: Donny and Dolly Ross.
You’ll learn about:
- The Ross family’s arrival and time running Edmonton’s first hotel
- How kids in the 1880s ate, played, and worked
- Coal mining, brewing, and gardening in Rossdale
- The time flying ace Wop May dropped a baseball from an airplane
- Iconic landmarks like the Ortona Armouries and Rossdale Brewery
- How the devastating 1915 flood reshaped Edmonton
You’ll also get to taste Scottish oat crackers, touch and smell pieces of the past, and make a graphite rubbing to take home.
This tour is presented by the Edmonton City as Museum Project (ECAMP), an initiative of the Edmonton Heritage Council. You’ll be able to catch it every week from June through September.
