This approx. 2 km tour looks at sites of significance in the history of Edmonton’s working people in the west end of downtown – from the Covenant Health General Hospital, on Jasper Avenue, to the Legislature Grounds. Hear about the social context of our boom and bust city and its impact on our built heritage and the lives of Edmontonians. Each participant receives a free copy of the booklet ALHI Tour of Working Class Heritage Buildings. The tour guide is Cathy Roy.
Registration is not necessary – just show up. The tour will begin on the main sidewalk in front of the old General Hospital (Covenant Health) at 11111 Jasper Avenue. We will walk as far as the east end of the Legislature grounds. Please wear appropriate footwear and sun protection as required. The tour will be cancelled if the Environment Canada Air Quality Health Index is 7 or greater.
