Join Edmonton artist Kasie Campbell, recent recipient of the Jasper Place LRT Public Art Canopy Commission, for a series of free community craft workshops exploring crochet, colour, pattern, and place.
Kasie’s proposed public artwork investigates how the materials, techniques, and histories of craft-and the aesthetics of femininity, care, and motherhood-can be translated into a large-scale public artwork rooted in community connection.
Participants will be invited to create crochet granny squares, experiment with pattern variations, and explore colour systems informed by community input and lived experience. No prior crochet experience is necessary. Whether you are a longtime maker or trying crochet for the first time, all skill levels are welcome.
These workshops are an opportunity to contribute to the spirit of a future public artwork while connecting through craft, storytelling, and collective making. Come learn to crochet a granny square-and help shape the future of the Jasper Place LRT public art project.
