This self-taught uke player uses songwriting as both anchor and compass, navigating life’s twists and turns with warmth, honesty, and a touch of the offbeat.
Canada raised her, Germany shaped her, and somewhere in between Marie Fontaine found her ukulele-driven indie folk sound, rooted in storytelling and connection. Raised in a creative family, she grew up on French chanson and artists like Kate Bush and Rickie Lee Jones. Since 2015, she’s become a familiar face in Edmonton’s scene, with highlights including a Nashville retreat with Andrea Stolpe, performing with WriteOn! at the Calgary folk club, The Rocky Mountain Listeing Room, the WriteOn showcase at the Ironwood Stage & Grill, The Key of Me at SkirtsAfire Festival 2026, and her 2026 release “Big Valley Jail.
