This session is designed for Property Managers, Asset Managers, Property Owners, Building Operators, Condominium Managers, and Insurance Professionals who are responsible for navigating building-related incidents and minimizing risk, disruption, and cost.

Participants will gain practical insight into the most common property events experienced across commercial and residential buildings, including water-related damage, fire/smoke/odour impacts, storm events, vehicle collisions, and vandalism. The session will explore how these incidents are typically managed within the industry—from initial response through to full restoration—with a focus on what stakeholders need to know to make informed decisions throughout the process.

Given that water losses represent the most frequent and often most complex type of claim, special attention will be dedicated to this area. Attendees will learn how professionals detect, track, and monitor moisture migration within building systems, as well as the tools and technology used to support accurate assessment and effective remediation. The discussion will also compare key restoration strategies, including demolition versus drying-in-place, helping participants better understand the implications of each approach on timelines, costs, and building operations.

In addition, the session will address the critical role of mould and asbestos abatement in the restoration process. We will explore when these factors come into play, how they are managed, and how they can impact project scope, safety considerations, and regulatory compliance.

Throughout the session, the focus will remain on practical, real-world knowledge rather than technical theory—equipping attendees with the confidence to ask the right questions, collaborate effectively with vendors and insurers, and support efficient recovery outcomes.

A dedicated portion of time will be reserved for open discussion and Q&A, providing attendees the opportunity to explore specific challenges, share experiences, and gain insight from industry experts and peers.
