A community welcome after a 1,600 km journey from Yellowknife to Edmonton raising awareness for children with chronic illness.
The Ride
In June 2026, Kira Young is cycling 1,600 km from Yellowknife to Edmonton, retracing the long trips she had to make as a child to access medical care.
This is more than an endurance ride. It’s a call for change.

Why this matters
Across Canada:
- Thousands of children live with serious rheumatic diseases
- Many must leave their communities for care

For families in northern and remote regions, getting care can mean days of travel, time away from home, and major stress .
About the cause

- Families navigate care
- Improve early diagnosis
- Fund research and advocacy
- Reduce isolation for kids and parents
