In honour of Canada Day, learn what we weren’t taught about colonization and the history of racism in Canada.
This illuminating and deeply impactful 1.5-hour webinar is facilitated virtually by Reighan Hill, MAR Talks, and MAR Shift Program Coordinator. With compassionate honesty, Reighan guides participants through historical to current-day systemic racism, building upon concepts learned in How to Raise an Anti-Racist Child and Anti-Racism 101. This workshop will help to bring participants up to speed to be better equipped to talk with the children in their lives about what they are (or aren’t) learning at school.
Reighan meets participants where they are in their anti-racism journey, and leads them through a thought-provoking session covering:
- Fundamental concepts like racialization, racialized, and colonialism
- The connection between colonization and racism
- Review of historical to present-day examples of racism in Canada
- The long-term and ongoing racial impacts of colonization
- Questions & Answers
At the end of the session, participants will also receive additional resources to continue learning, reflecting, and taking action long after the workshop ends.
