Join us to celebrate the launch of Edmonton's FascinAsian Film Festival with welcome messages from festival leadership, dignitaries, performance by Kita no Taiko, and delicious food including MSSM Edmonton's famous Toro Handroll and Daifuku prepared on site.

Featuring:

Kita no Taiko (kee-ta no ty-ko) is a volunteer-based Japanese drumming group from Edmonton that has around 20 members. "Kita no Taiko" means "Drums of the North", formed in 1986, Kita no Taiko was then the most northerly taiko group in the world. Taiko is now very popular globally, and draws people of all backgrounds and interests.

Kita no Taiko has a diverse membership of people that love the energy, physicality, musicality and culture of taiko. Their love of this art form brings people together, and allows them to share with the community. Kita no Taiko perform regularly throughout the year at festivals, conventions, fundraisers and other events, and can be seen annually at Edmonton's Heritage Festival.

MSSM Edmonton is a Japanese Omakase restaurant, masterfully crafted by Canada's first-ever two-star Michelin chef, Masaki Saito. This culinary haven invites guests to immerse themselves in Chef Saito's artistic realm, where each dish is a reflection of his inspiration, brought to life by his dedicated students. This unique Omakase experience offers an enchanting journey into the world of traditional Edomae sushi, making it both approachable and the perfect introduction for those new to this exquisite culinary art.
