Join Pro Coro Canada for an exclusive open rehearsal and live preview with guest composer Paul Mealor. Hear Mealor speak about his new work The Light of Paradise, then experience Pro Coro in rehearsal alongside Montreal-based saxophone quartet Quasar.

Inspired by The Book of Margery Kempe—the earliest known autobiography written in English—The Light of Paradise is a fifty-minute choral opera for choir and saxophone quartet that reimagines the life of a medieval mystic whose visions and devotion challenged her time.

One of the world's most performed living composers, Mealor's music has been featured at major UK state and Royal occasions, including the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Coronation of King Charles III.

Guests are invited to arrive at 1:15pm to get settled. At 1:30pm, Paul Mealor will speak about the work, followed by a brief discussion with Pro Coro's team about our artistic process and community engagement. The open rehearsal will take place from 2:00 to 2:45pm in the same space.
