Family Day in the Arts District

On Monday, February 16, 2026, from 12 – 5 pm, join the Edmonton Arts Council, City of Edmonton, the Citadel Theatre, Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton Public Library and more, to participate in a variety of family-friendly programming.
Events include live music, circus arts, drumming, and hip hop dance. In addition to the scheduled performances, there will also be games and skating at City Hall plaza. Free parking is available at City of Edmonton EPark locations.
PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE
City Hall:
- Dance along to Mbira-centric, alternative, afro-diasporan band Mbira Renaissance Band from 1 — 1:45 pm, 2:15 — 3 pm and 3:15 — 4 pm.
- Join Shasily to move your body and learn some new moves in between sets from 1:45 — 2:15 pm and 3 — 3:15 pm.
- Free skate rentals at the City Hall rink from 12 — 4 pm.
*Art Gallery of Alberta – Ledcor Theatre (2 Sir Winston Churchill Square):
- Free admission to the gallery from 11 am – 4:15 pm.
- Laugh alongside Rapid Fire Theatre from 12 — 12:45 pm.
- Marvel at the technique of Taiko, the Japanese Art of Drumming, with performances by Booming Tree from 1:15 — 2 pm and 3 — 3:45 pm.
- See the full schedule of FREE indoor fun at the AGA here, including making an artwork with an Educator, participating in a game of AGA bingo and more (11 – 5 pm).
*Citadel Theatre – Zeidler Theatre (9828 101A Ave):
- Enjoy interactive children songs and toe-tapping classics the whole family will enjoy, as engaging singer and fiddle player Michelle & Friends takes the stage from 12 — 12:45 pm.
- Laugh alongside Rapid Fire Theatre from 1:45 — 2:30 pm.
- Be entertained by Hula Hoop Circus who will be bringing high-energy, circus arts fun for all ages from 3 — 3:45 pm.
Citadel Theatre – Tucker Amphitheatre (9828 101A Ave):
- Cheer on the street performing group Rhythm Speaks as they showcase their hip hop moves and gravity defying skills through comedy and crowd interaction from 12 — 12:25 pm and 2:15 — 2:40 pm.
- Listen to Métis fiddle player Brianna Lizotte from 1 — 1:45 pm and 3:15 — 4 pm.
Edmonton Public Library (Stanley A. Milner Branch) – (7 Sir Winston Churchill Square):
- Family Films at the Library: Wapos Bay Marathon from 1:30 – 4:30 pm.
- Library Lunchtime Concerts: The Raven and the Thistle from 2 – 3 pm.

Tickets for the free performances at the AGA/Citadel Theatre are first come first serve.
- Tickets for the free performances at AGA will be available at the gallery entrance from an hour before the performance (11 am for the 12 pm performance, 12:15 pm for the 1:15 pm performance, and 2 pm for the 3 pm performance).
- Tickets for the free performances at the Zeidler Theatre inside Citadel Theatre will be available at their box office from an hour before the performance (11 am for the 12 pm performance, 12:45 pm for the 1:45 pm performance and 2 pm for the 3 pm performance).
