Ever wonder what it's like to be a social worker in Edmonton's downtown core? Hilary Kirkpatrick, an Outreach Worker with Edmonton Public Library, will walk you through her work and what a typical day might look like—if such a thing exists!

Whether it's building relationships, helping clients access income and housing supports, or advocating for the needs of downtown's most vulnerable community members, no two days are alike.

Hilary has worked as a social worker at EPL for 12 years, skillfully navigating complex systems to create lasting, human-centered solutions for customers facing social vulnerability. When she's away from work, Hilary enjoys hanging out with her family and dogs, reading, and crafting. She loves to try new things and spend time in the mountains.

This session is part of Learn Downtown, a City of Learners speaker series offering bite-size learning opportunities downtown. A complimentary lunch will be provided.
