La "Galette des Rois" is a delicious tradition rooted in French culture for centuries, a celebration of Epiphany that brings families and friends together around a delicious galette to mark the end of the holidays!

The galette itself is a puff pastry-based cake, often filled with frangipane, a delicious almond cream. There are also brioche galettes!

What makes the galette des rois so special is the tradition that accompanies it: inside each galette is hidden a small a small porcelain or plastic bean. Whoever finds the bean in his or her slice is crowned king or queen for the day, and has the privilege of wearing a golden crown. It's a fun tradition that delights young and old alike, as everyone secretly hopes to be crowned king or queen.
