Join us for a winter celebration in the heart of Old Strathcona at Winter Whyte Light Up! Kick-off the holiday season with live performances, twinkling lights, cultural experiences, ice carving, rides on the streetcar, and more! This year’s event features a new mainstage concept, additional programming that connects attendees to our city’s multi-cultural spirit, and all-ages activities outdoors and indoors thanks to the support of our community partners!

Lights

Every year, we transform Dr. Wilbert McIntyre Park into a wonderful array of festive light displays across the gazebo, trees, and pathways. Old Strathcona becomes a winter wonderland with the snap of a finger and sets the stage for a night to remember.

Activities

Winter Whyte Light Up features a variety of indoor and outdoor activities all evening. You can enjoy our Winter Whyte Variety Show on 83rd Ave and take in magical performances by roving entertainers across the park, farmers’ market, and library. Our indoor partner venues Edmonton Public Library and the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market will have free family-friendly activities, like crafts, story time, vendors, and more, while the Edmonton Streetcar will offer short rides (pending snow fall) on their beautifully decorated Christmas car from their main stop behind the Arts Barns!

Giveaways & Community Organizations

The holidays are the season of giving, so every year we invite various community organizations to participate in the event to connect with the community and collect donations. This year, The Mustard Seed will be onsite at the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market. They are collecting mittens on a Mitten Tree. Find them located right inside the entrance.
